What do people do when they are starting to be concerned about running out of warehouse space?
- Move to a much bigger warehouse
- Rent an additional warehouse space
Sure, these are the solutions that first comes to mind. But what if I tell you, maybe you don’t have to do these? By doing the tips that I’m about to share with you in this video, you might save up to 30% space and of course operation cost!

Hi Rob,
In your qudrant of SKU’s/Picks per day. It looks like 50,000 picks per day is the time you consider different strategies. Is there a guideline for the number of SKU’s?
I missed the PROMAT this year. If I go next year I’ll be hunt the find Mal and introduce myself.
Thanks
Rob
Hi Rob,
The quadrant is more of a guide to illustrate that as picks and SKUs increase independently, different approaches to automation and MHE in general warrant further investigation.
The 50,000 picks figure is also a guide, however, this figure will depend on the specific operation under review and is therefore variable.
One indicator that a new approach may be needed is that as throughput increases, the cost of a pick also increases. Considerations around the physical size of the SKU range as well would dictate when to review and what solution may be suitable.
