Our Logistics and Supply Chain Consulting Services for US Businesses

There was a time when considering the services of a consulting firm based outside the USA would have made little sense. For consultants to help your business or organization effectively, having them embedded in your business for at least some phases of a project would have been a necessity.

However, things are different today, and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated acceptance of remote working and distributed teams, already made possible by digital tools and technology.

At Logistics Bureau, we embraced these advances and transformed our consulting business from the conventional to the cutting edge, developing software and capabilities enabling us to offer 100% remote consulting for all aspects of supply chain improvement and problem-solving.

Serving Your Consulting Needs in a Safe Virtual Environment

We now bring the expertise and experience of our professional team of logistics and supply chain consultants to US businesses, using remote-working practices enabled by purpose-designed, tech-driven, diagnostic, analytic, collaboration, and communication processes.

However, remote does not mean impersonal or automated. We maintain our traditional and well-known personal approach to consulting, which has carried us, and our clients, through thousands of successful projects.

It’s just that now we can drive or support your supply chain projects without the need for you to host our consultants in your business, by remotely:

  • Providing objective guidance, with no vendor affiliations
  • Advising your team and providing supply chain insights and education
  • Participating in your project or program from planning through to implementation, or as required

A Selection of Our Services

When you need impartial advice and help to solve supply chain problems in your US business, Logistics Bureau has the tools, expertise, and experience to meet your improvement goals.

While there might be some circumstances in which we’ll need to visit your business to do so, we can perform the vast majority of our activities using virtual tools.

Our logistics and supply chain consulting services include:

  • Warehouse internal design, layout, and set up, including handling systems
  • Distribution network optimization, design, and redesign
  • 3PL sourcing, selection, & contract negotiation
  • Cost-to-serve analysis and reduction
  • Freight transportation rate analysis and cost reduction
  • Strategic site selection for new distribution centers and warehouses
  • Warehouse capacity planning
  • Goods transportation fleet design, planning and set-up
  • S&OP strategy and implementation
  • Supply chain strategy development…

… And an array of other diagnostic, analytic, project management, educational, and implementation-related services.

In short, if you have a logistics or supply chain issue to address, it’s one that our team has solved numerous times before.

Our Specialized, Made-for-Remote, Diagnostic Solutions

In addition to amending our approach to the conventional logistics and supply chain consulting services we offer, to enable us to provide them remotely, we have also developed several packaged diagnostic and analytics solutions, purpose-designed for remote delivery, and covering specific elements of supply chain performance.

Each solution is easy to arrange with us and provides fast-tracked results that will help your business or organization enjoy lower operating costs, enhanced service to your customers, and increased margins.

The packages that you can choose from to boost supply chain performance for your business in the United States include:

  • Safety stock optimization: Right-size your safety stock levels to protect your business from supply shocks without tying up excessive working capital.
  • Cost to serve: We’ll help you identify which of your customers, processes, and products are eating into your profit margins and support you in reducing their related service costs.
  • Warehouse performance: A fast-track warehouse service and productivity improvement program, customized to your business in the USA
  • Demand forecasting: Achieve improvements of up to 5% in forecast accuracy with our forecasting benchmarking and diagnostics service.

Consulting With Vision and Leadership

Logistics Bureau has been operating for nearly a quarter of a century, and since our company’s foundation, we have gone from strength to strength, gaining business primarily on the strength of referrals from our many satisfied clients.

Our success must largely be attributed to the passion and dedication of our two leading figures, Rob and David, who have worked tirelessly to help businesses and organizations like yours, and who inspire our team to share their dedication. Here’s a brief introduction to both of them:

Rob O’Byrne

Owner and Group CEO

Rob’s desire to aid and support people wishing to grow and improve their businesses inspired him to create a consulting company based on his in-depth knowledge and experience of supply chain operation and management.

David Riddle

Deputy Group CEO

After a ten-year career in the UK’s finance sector, David relocated to Australia and it was there that he met and agreed to join Rob in developing Logistics Bureau to become an international leader in logistics and supply chain consulting.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your company isn’t accustomed to engaging external help with problem solving, supply chain improvement, or business development, you might be wondering what you actually get in return for your expenditure.

Indeed, one of the questions we are most frequently asked, especially by business leaders who haven’t hired consultants before is “Will we receive the kind of value that justifies the payment of consulting fees?”

Here’s a personal quote from our CEO, Rob O’Byrne, to answer that particular question:

“I offer you my personal assurance, that at Logistics Bureau, you will. The majority of our consulting assignments result in a payback for the client within six months. That’s why we have loyal customers, many of whom have been with us since we launched our business in July 1997.”

Here are answers to a few more questions we’re commonly asked by prospective clients:

1. How are your consulting fees structured?

We can apply our fees on a fixed basis for your project, or at a daily rate. The daily rate typically proves most appropriate for implementation support projects and similar, since it has built-in flexibility in the number of days consulting cover that we provide. For many other project types, a fixed fee arrangement might be the better choice. Fixed fees provide you with visibility of your consulting outlay from the get-go.

2. What process do you use for fee calculation?

Our fees are determined according to the resources required to complete your project. Prior to submitting a proposal, we will scope and plan the project with you carefully, and calculate the resources that we will need to meet its objectives. That approach is helpful in aligning expectations among all the project stakeholders.

Subsequently we conduct detailed planning of the project to establish precise requirements and timelines. Sometimes it will even make sense for us to complete two or three iterations of the proposal.

We believe it is necessary for us to be very thorough with project preparation, because we provide a guarantee of beneficial results. However, we bear all the planning and preparation costs, and do not pass them on to you, the client.

3. What is your marketing approach?

New clients often tell us that they never heard of Logistics Bureau before. That’s probably because our approach to marketing is very subtle and low key.

Some 65% of our engagements are repeat business with clients who have come to trust us implicitly. Indeed, their referrals bring us another 30% of new business. Inbound enquiries generate the remaining.

If you haven’t worked with us before, a referral from one of our clients can help to speed up the introduction and onboarding process.

4. Do you work with us on site, or remotely?

Before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted international business and travel, our consulting approach was of a conventional nature, with at least some of our work conducted at our clients’ business locations. However, we also performed work remotely when it made sense to do so.

As the technology and tools for remotely conducted business improved, our levels of online-based consulting increased, primarily to save costs and simplify project management logistics and coordination.

With the onset of the pandemic, we increased our focus on remote consulting out of necessity, but also chose to embrace it as a future option, rather than just a stopgap during the crisis.

We decided to take an innovative approach, developing the tools and capabilities to provide dedicated online-based consulting services.

Of course, we are still very willing to work inside your business when possible and appropriate, but if not, we’re more than confident in our ability to deliver positive results remotely.
