Six new awards to boost

Five new scholarships and a national research award have been set up to encourage tertiary students to pursue careers in logistics.

The awards, worth a total $26,000 a year, will be funded by Logistics Bureau, a leading logistics and supply chain consulting practice, and administered by the Logistics Association of Australia.

LAA and Logistics Bureau

The scholarships include three of $2500 at undergraduate level and two of $5000 each at postgraduate level.

The research award of $7500 will be for excellence in postgraduate research at masters or doctorate level in the logistics and supply chain fields.

Mr Mal Walker, president of the LAA in New South Wales, said each award included LAA membership and applications would be assessed by the LAA.

Logistics Bureau was established in 1997 and has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Bangkok, and Singapore. Its managing director, Mr Rob O’Byrne, said; “Sponsoring these awards will allow us to put something back into the logistics industry in Australia.”
