Leading the Way in Logistics and Supply Chain Consulting
Whether in Egypt, elsewhere in North Africa or the Middle East region, or in our home region of Australasia, Logistics Bureau is known for delivering outstanding results, on budget, and on time.
Of course, leadership excellence is critical to keep a team of more than 35 logistics professionals engaged, enthused, and on track. The two dedicated supply chain gurus who fill that leadership role passionately, also spend most of their time working directly with clients.
Here’s a brief introduction to them both:
Rob O’Byrne
Owner and Group CEO
Rob is the founder of the Logistics Bureau group of companies, and is continually driven by his passion for helping businesses boost performance through supply chain improvement.
David Riddle
Deputy Group CEO
David joined the Logistics Bureau team back in 2001, following nine years of operational experience in the UK finance sector and a decision to relocate to Australia.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here’s what our founder and CEO, Rob O’Byrne, has to say about that:
“I offer you my personal assurance, that at Logistics Bureau, you will. The majority of our consulting assignments result in a payback for the client within six months. That’s why we have loyal customers, many of whom have been with us since we launched our business in July 1997.”
Other frequently asked questions include:
1. How is your fee structure organised?
We offer fees at a daily rate agreed with the client, or apply a fixed fee for a project overall. Some of our clients like the daily rate structure, especially for implementation support projects and similar, as it enables flexibility in the number of consultant-days that we provide. Most clients, though, opt for a fixed fee, which we calculate according to the agreed scope of work and project objectives.
2. How do you calculate your fees?
We determine the resources necessary for us to meet the objectives of your project, and calculate fees accordingly. Before we submit any proposal, we carefully plan and scope the project with the client. In so doing, we’re able to ensure aligned expectations, avoiding later surprises or misunderstandings.
Because we actually guarantee the results of each project, we take great care over project pricing and planning, progressing through several iterations of a proposal if need be.
Timelines and resource requirements are established through detailed project planning—which we conduct at our expense. We don’t pass our preparation costs on to the client.
3. I have not heard of Logistics Bureau before. How do you source new business?
Logistics Bureau’s marketing strategy is low key. More than half of our work comprises repeat business with clients who know and have trust in us. Around 30% of new business is generated by referrals from existing clients, and only 5% is acquired through inbound enquiries.
If we haven’t come to the attention of you or your business before, a referral from one of our existing customers is an excellent way to fast-track any introductions and start a discussion to see if we are a good fit for you, and vice versa.
4. Do you work with us remotely, or on site?
Historically, we conducted much of our work alongside our clients in a face-to-face environment. Of course, when it made sense to keep costs down, we would work remotely too.
As an example, it would be common for us to begin a project with a workshop or two at the client’s site, then continue with a combination of remote and on-site engagement.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, of course, we have been forced to increase the amount of remote work, and as a result, have shaped our skills and technological capabilities to fit a wholly remote working environment. In many ways, that has proven to be an advantage, as we can take part in many projects on a 100% remote basis, keeping costs down while still maintaining our promise of guaranteed results for the client.
