“The things that matter most should never be at the mercy of the things that matter least” – Stephen Covey, author of the book entitled ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’

The best advice I can give to someone, because this happened to me many years ago, is get out of the office. Get out of the office and go to the pub with your boss. You might be more relaxed, come up with an idea, and it just might be an idea that saves a multi million dollar project.
Good one! My advice is when working for any business is to imagine you are the owner and ask your self how you would like things done or what would your expectations be for your self and others. To touch on staff staying back late. The question needs to be asked why aren’t they getting all their work done within 8 hours. How can we improve productivity, maybe computers are old and slow, maybe staff are complacent and drawing the time out to 7pm. What if we told everyone they had to finish all their work by 4pm. What would they do differently? If they can’t, is their work load too high? sometimes the problem is the right questions are not being asked because we don’t want to upset the apple cart.
