This paper presents the results of an international logistics study conducted by Kevin Donnelly for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) secretariat in Singapore, focusing on the management skills required to operate intermodal logistics facilities throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The paper summarises the highly relevant findings as they relate to the development of logistics management skill sets for Australian logistics managers, particularly as the intermodal task grows throughout the economy.

Understanding the essential aspects of Supply Chain Management and their impact on the bottom line is critical for any CEO. With the potential to reduce Supply Chain costs by up to 25%, CEO’s need to appreciate the ‘hard questions’ that they should be asking of their Supply Chain and Logistics Managers.

When these challenges are encountered in countries with little or no resources industry or experience they are greatly magnified.
